"My mare returned to barrel racing two weeks after her second treatment of EquiFlow and produced a winning time on her first try..." - Tiffany Lujan (2021 AQHA Amateur Champion)

My mare had begun bleeding through the maximum dosage of furosemide on a Grade 3 scale this year.

During a barrel race this November that consisted of three days of racing in progressive rounds she had a Grade 4 episode with a thick stream coming out of despite being on the maximum dose of furosemide, other bleeder supplements and wearing a Flair nasal strip.

Following this bleeding episode, she went through a full course of antibiotic treatment and albuterol for two weeks with no exercise. She remained extremely lethargic after antibiotic treatment despite her normal high energy nature. Two days after nebulizing the first dose of Equiflow, her energy started to return. Later on the first week she began running, bucking, and rearing which she had not acted like in months.

After the second treatment of EquiFlow is when the biggest difference in energy was noticeable during workouts. She had energy in her pasture and stall, whereas before the two treatments, she would just stand in one spot all day refusing to move. When exercising, her breathing rate stayed steady throughout the entire jogging/cantering session, when it hadn’t during the period she was bleeding. The speed of her jog or canter now remains the same throughout the entire session.

Overall her disposition has returned to the horse she was before the bleeding episodes this year. We are excited about her longevity in the barrel racing pen and hopefully, she will return to setting arena records soon!

My mare returned to barrel racing two weeks after her second treatment of EquiFlow and produced a winning time on her first try, except for the penalty of knocking over a barrel. More importantly, she was given only 5 cc of Lasix and didn’t cough, sneeze or bleed. Post competition video endoscopic exams proved it.

Four days later, she competed again, this time without any Lasix. Although she didn’t qualify, her energy remained high and post competition endoscopy showed no blood. She didn’t cough or sneeze and her breathing rate continues to remain steady throughout training and competition.
